Walking to college this morning, I had just stepped outside the LH gates, when it hit me...
Stepping outside the LH gates is an amazing feeling, to me at least.
LH is jail, no matter how many amazing friends I've made in here, coming back to LH after even some of the best days ever of my life ruins my mood. So you can only imagine what a thrilling feeling it must be to step outside those gates, every time!!
The other thing I love about 'outside the LH gate' is that after stepping out, you gotta walk uphill 'round a not so gentle curve (in fact in the beginning of first year, I'd be tired by the time I was past this!!) and the whole time you'll be walking through this what I find really pretty canopy of greenery. And after that, especially around this time of the year, the space on either side of the road is completely overgrown with flowers - pretty, wild and all over the place! This also happens to be the only thing I like about walking back to LH ;)
So what hit me was that it really is gonna be over soon! And the only thing I actually regretted right at that moment was about missing out on the greenery!
And then on the Rajpath, there were the dry leaves strewn all over the place and I realized this was it - our last autumn here!! I've written so much about autumn on Rajpath on this very blog, and yes, I will so miss the sight of the Rajpath going red in this crazy crazy heat!!
Oh my God I have waited for college to get over forever, and now that it is happening, I can't believe I'm actually having these kinda thoughts!!
It's just that there's been such an unbelievable amount of so much squeezed into these last four years, I wish it was possible to save every little moment in a time capsule!!

An Irked State of Mind
Haven't written in ages, ages I know. I haven't been feeling like writing lately, and now I think I know why.
I started off writing about my feelings and experiences at college, but somewhere along the way, it kinda turned into some special events journal. And then after three years, the special events didn't really appear special anymore.
And then I realized what happened...
So here I am, a few hours away from my major project stage 1 evaluation., and I'm gonna speak exactly what's on my mind...
S7 is kind of over, except for the final showdown tomorrow. The campus is empty like a Sunday afternoon. Five more months of college to go.
I know next to nothing about my major project. Thank God I got placed before this whole fiasco started!
Ummm I don't really have anything to talk about, nor am I in the mood to make small talk. I'm very irritated, tired and sleep deprived. All I wanna do is somehow make it past noon, tomorrow and then, two weeks of..my last vacation??
Whoa!! That's kinda my only disappointment about starting to work - no more summer breaks, term breaks etc.
And I'm supposed to be working on giving our presentation for tomorrow it's final touches but I so do not feel like it! And I guess to avoid that, I turned to the thing I've been avoiding for quite some time now - writing a post!
Damn I have heardly written at all this semester. It was a pretty boring semester for me, apart from the two week break in-between, but what followed after coming back to college took away whatever little joy we'd managed in those two weeks. Apart from that, there were all the usual events of monsoon semester, for the last time for me.
Starting with Onam -I'm gonna miss the payasam, that's it :P
Then Ganesh chaturathi, lol I'll miss getting the best dress awards at college dance nights I guess ;)
And diwali - college brought a whole new meaning of 'diwali' to me. Each year's been special; in fact, the last year was the least, with all our seniors gone.
Tathva was an unexpected surprise. We had a fire-show, live in our college by a group from the Czech Republic, and without any doubt, it was the most amazing thing I've ever seen live.
That's about all the 'fun' we had this semester. The labs and drawing classes totally deprived us of the joys of 'only four theory papers'! Hopefully we'll finally get to take a breath next sem, before we step out into...the world...big, bad or whateer, I don't really kno yet! ;)
I guess I'll sign off for tonight now; gotta finish off all the work for tomorrow. And I promise promise promise I'll post tomorrow bout how everything went :D

Not So Cool
Hello there. Long time again. And no I haven't been lazy. Whoever said final year is cool, my whole week goes in lab records and drawing sheets and weekends go by in the usual boring trips to the city and oh yea lots of just lazing around but not sleeping. So ultimately I still feel sleep-deprived and busy all the time!
So on things that have been up with me, there was our last Ganesh Chaturathi in college last weekend, and it was quite some fun. And oh oh before that was our last Onam too. Damn that was ages ago, now I realise I haven't posted in, well, ages!
And there have been placements. Loads and more.
And awesome weather. Finally the rains are here like first year, the way I like them.
And then there was the student body elections this Sunday, followed by loads of action!
And, I'm a little bored coz of having to spend a hell lot of time just by myself :( Sometimes I wanna get out of here really fast although time does seem to be flying by even faster in final year and hey I just realised, when I get done with this college, there can be no more Confessions@NITC. It's so soon compared to school which took forever to be over, and what am I gonna write about after college! Who'll wanna read about..well, I can't yet imagine what I'm gonna write about after college!

Rain, Shine, Blue skies and my sleepy head!
Hmm, so I got back to college after a freaking long summer, so long that I didn't even like it anymore!
Talking about luggage, I just couldn't figure why my bags were so freaking heavy! Even my tall, strong friends complained this time! Add to that my sprained neck (did I tell you about my car crash this summer?) and I ended up spending a fortune on the porters. :(
And then I had a room to clean and cartons to shift, all by myself. By next morning, my neck pain was back in its full spirit!
Well so that was day one, S7 @ NITC. The major thing that's been up since that day has been 'placements' and I'll write all about it in my next post, which will be up in another half an hour I guess ;)

Prologue to Final Year
Hey people!!! LOoooong time, I know. And that's coz...
I have been lazy! Plain and simple!!It's been a long summer, and like the end of every summer since I got into college, I'm dying to go back and I don't wanna go back!! And if you're from NITC, you had better know what I mean!
Wow, so it is finally final year! Not that it took too long, only three years since it seemed soooo far away.
Man I hated first year like crazy! I hated college and everything else about it!
But maybe the rest of college would not have been the same if first year hadn't been so horrible! And even though it was that horrible, everyone i know wanted to be back for second year by the end of summer. And we have really fond memories from first year we never wanna forget.
Oh I can talk bout memories another time, coz we're talking about the beginning of a new year here; we'll talk about memories next summer. And wow, after a long time, my blogpost sounds anything like 'confessions' :P
So, there's only a week to go. I feel excited. I feel nostalgic. I look forward to it. I miss some things that ain't anymore. I feel nervous, coz we're about to find out what the rest of our lives are gonna be about. I hope this year turns out to be the icing on the cake-the amazing unforgettable life@NITC.
There's still things I don't like about college, but there are other things. Things that make a part of me belong here forever, things that are gonna make memories from these four years last a lifetime.
And hey, I have a new blog. My Dream Journal!

End of a ...
Tired, exhausted, dehydrated yet sweating profusely, hair matted with sweat, he looked up and screamed over the hum of the roaring machine - "1407".
I dropped my (pink barbie princesses) pencil and my lab record and raised my hands in victory, big grin on my face :D And he gave a tired smile.
Thw was our last reading and we had finally conquered Machines Lab, which always looks more like a garage to me!!
And I wondered, am I supposed to feel sad about this getting over?
Coz as far as the trend goes, whenever something comes to an end, people lament and say good things about it, like how much fun and how amazing it was and how much they're gonna miss it, though the world knows how much they hated it when that thing used to be (alive or on, whatever!)
So I was just wondering, what nice thing can I say about this lab?
Did I have a nice time here? Certainly a better time than electronics lab!
And the best part, I never fainted in this lab ;)
Plus we had a really nice water cooler, and I could waste up to ten minutes under the pretext of feeling thirsty. I'm sure others managed more!!
Hmm, I looked behind our table. There were all these huge machines we had never even heard of. I recognized a lathe machine and this weird and huge drilling machine.
Am I curious about them? Am I gonna regret never having to I dunno, getting to look at those big machines?
Naaah! I'm done here. :D
Nothing to miss here. Will be back in a few weeks for the test though, but for now, the 'garage' looks gray and gloomy. Just like a garage!!

End of the lane!! :P
End of the semester, its sad, its sultry, its boring!
Everyone just seems so sad, dying over assignments which hardly are worth even five marks I bet, lab tests, project deadlines - the stupidest part is that all the deadlines are at the end of the sem, when you'll realise you're stuck at a dead-end and there's no escape..

Weekend
Its weekend already, pretty quick and must say, the week was a dream.
Just one class on thursday and now I strongly feel one day must be off every month just so we can pay our bills.
Anyway so weekend right; am so outta things to do; I hear half the things in Focus have closed down and with even LF gone, this place appears so freaking dead!!
Oh and I haven't had a first hour yet so am yet to catch a glimpse of the freshers. Like I care, I'm supposedly anti-ragging (lol)
Plus only two days of classes ain't sufficient to generate any gossip; dude there's really nothing to do then I guess.. apart from gaping at the Tathva poster (wassat!!)if you please!!

Two things...
1.The new template:
Before I had seen what NITC actually looked like, I only thought of all I'd seen on my last visit to Kerela, which would be Trivandrum and the beaches around it; and I totally imagined my college was on a beach etc. etc.
This template is totally like what I had imagined, I'd be totally on my own in a new place like a traveller, a new phase of my life and a beautiful beach.
This is how it turned out to be: the college is pretty but not on a beach! There is a beach which is very beautiful. I do feel like a traveller, a total outsider in this place, looking at a whole new kind of culture. And yeah, this is a new phase and so much better than the last even though I despise so many things about it (the number of things I despise has exponentially dropped since first year :wink)!
2.
One more month to go and oh man I'm so tired of these two month summer holidays; I just wanna get back to college now, I can't take this torture anymore! Its just so killing when you know something is coming but you gotta wait for it and there's nothing you can do to make it not come or something.
Waiting to get back to S5 though once that does happen, I might totally be complaining about it in this very space!! :P

The year that was...
I guess its about time I did this; half the summer gone and I'm yet to bid adios to my sophomore year, I have so been avoiding this...
The year started off with me breathing a sigh of relief for I would be no more be a fresher at college and wouldn't have to deal with people interfering in my affairs anymore; and then I realised college wasn't that bad, in fact it was pretty good and soon I was in love with it.
S3 was all about friends, hanging out, exploring and discovering the place, partying, and making new friends; it was like waking up to college!!. A real pleasure I must say.
S4@EEE was hell, classes, classes and more classes, yet the best few months of my life plus the assurance from seniors that with this, the worst was over..
And then jubiliation over being half way through with college, its great to be there but I wanna get over with it real fast; its all got something to do with my obsession about growing up quick!!
So, though I hate to admit and absolutely refuse to believe, S4 is over and I'm gonna miss it...

NITC Mess Diaries

The salient feature of today's lunch: was not the horrible veggies that made me thank God over and over again for me not being able to get back for lunch on tuesdays the whole semester except for this last one.
It was the chapatis, that God initially planned to make papads, but changed his decision last moment!
They took two hands and all the muscles in the jaw area.
This other time not so long ago, they gave us bananas for dessert(an amazing concept by itself by the way - one banana for dessert, sometimes even two!!) and the banana skin and the chapati were the same thickness. The second similarity: we weren't really expected to eat either!

To the guy who invented 'Ketchup'...cheers!!!

God bless the guy who invented ketchup!
Back in school, I was known for the amount of ketchup I ate with my sandwich for lunch! In fact, I sometimes had stuff just so that I could have ketchup with it!!
At home, ketchup used to be a lifesaver - I'd drown everything that refused to go down my food-pipe otherwise in ketchup, from spinach to bottle gourds!!
However there was one thing I never used ketchup on: Domino's pizza. That was one taste so divine I wouldn't compromise even for ketchup!! ;)
But two years in college and I can't remember the last time I totally totally drowned something in ketchup; for the so-called-ketchup they serve in and around NITC would send Mr.Ketchup turning in his grave if there ever was a Mr.Ketchup that is! :P

Lazy Daisy
Done with my classes for the day and have nearly a week of holidays stretching ahead and I have absolutely nothing to do, nowhere to go, just nothing! The hostel's already starting to feel empty, most locals will be gone by tomorrow morning.
By God's grace, the weather's been a teeny bit better than what it's been all semester and I'm getting lazy all the time as usual.
The latest unwanted development in my life is me getting addicted to computer games. The whole reason I never do them is because I have this tendency to get really addicted to them: the most dangerous one I ever had was NFS, that too at a very dangerous time - when I was supposed to be preparing for my entrances!! But after staying off them for like three years, I thought one innocent game wouldn't hurt; but that was me underestimating the game as well as myself!!
Btw, before I sign off - thanks for the inspiration krik krak ;) Been too engrossed in my games lately :P

Numb
Back after a long time, I don't know what I've been doing for the past few days; feels like I've been in some sort of a trance and still in.
When it comes to blogging, the Ragam blog's had my attention for the past week and still does! Honestly, I don't really know what I'm gonna do in Ragam; I wonder if I'm waiting for it out of habit. They call this 'falling into the NITC way of life'.
Something weird - in this whole semester I have only watched one new movie fully till now; I just don't have the patience to watch movies anymore. In fact, I don't have the patience for anything now-a-days; hate shopping as always, no movies, no reading here n there, I don't know what I'm coming to!
The weather's horrible; and the chicken pox thing is still on, I wonder when it'll finally go away. It's such a not-cool thing to happen to this college.
On top of everything, there are the never-ending classes, eight to five four days a week - it's killing me!! Especially when it includes something like an hour of 'value education' of all things!!

Long time...
Hmmm..it's been a long time since I last posted here.
Second sessionals over, and no I am not satisfied at all; I now realise I got myself into real big trouble when I opted for EEE and even a bigger mess when I didn't realise for a long time what I've gotten myself into! Now I realise it a little I guess and I think I know I'm done for!
Anyways there's something that takes the wind out of me more than EEE does: laundry!! So after exams there was over a week's laundry to tackle - all thanks to our 'power laundry' - for those lazy moments, when you finally decide that the long steep climb to the laundry is a lazier option than doing all that yourself!!
Next issue: we have a new Electronics teacher, and we're starting all over!! God bless us and him too; things don't look too good, just classes, classes and more classes!! :(
The weather's turning more pathetic from pathetic! I hear its getting bad in the rest of the country too but atleast they're getting bad from good (winter). We never had winter!! I don't know why God forgot to bless his own country with that amazing season!!
And of course, everyone's supposed be excited about Ragam right now, so I guess everyone 'is' really excited about Ragam! ;)
Do keep an eye on the official Ragam'09 blog folks..

V Day
Valentine's day is coming up again and with it comes that whole cards thing I wrote about last year. Someone just came by knocking at our doors to sell them to us - courtesy call - you gotta buy one for your sake!
This year they ain't as disgusting as last year but instead, are so damn cheesy I now think last year's was better. Anyways, like it makes any difference to me! In case anyone's interested, do keep coming back to this page. I will put up stuff if anything interesting happens; though I have a feeling you're gonna turn out to be hell lucky, nothing interesting will happen and I'll have nothing to write here and hence you'll be saved from reading anything!!

A lotta cheese....
Damn my last post was so damn cheesy!! Like too much too too much of it! Like dude I'm already so stuffed up, more cheese is only gonna make things go from bad to worse to unimaginable extents!!!
Okay, I should start talking some sense now, too long you've been reading non-sense!
Actually, it's like when I study right, my mind like totally goes numb, and then when I start talking, the greater possibility is I have no idea what I'm talking! So, like right now, just finished my exams, that means been studying properly for the last two weeks and it's been a helluva two weeks; so my mind really needs some time to come back to atleast it's usual!
Hmmm, so end of the semester, going home tomorrow and this has been the best semester I've ever had; like I know it was only my third, five more to go; and it's been like so so much of work; yet I had an amazing time and many people from here would roll their eyes when they hear me say this but I do like my college; and c'mon I think this is the only one I'm ever gonna go to, so I'm allowed to say this!
So time to go home tomorrow; I can't believe it's time to go, like it's winter back home, and I'm gonna be home this christmas, like I'm so glad I'm gonna be dere; yet I wish I just wish wish wish, I could extend this semester like a chewing gum, like the best chewing gum that was ever made, and I could go on and on and on extending it forever...

adios S3
Three weeks for the semester to end, the exam time blues are setting in again. Semester three's been one hell of a time; while college is finally somewhat like college, like this is the only one I have ever been to so this is what I believe it's supposed to be like; but inside the class, life has been hell. I never knew signing up for EEE at NITC officially meant signing up to get screwed; for that's what would initially happen to everybody in nearly every hour, then of course, we all grew used to getting shocked. But again, what I'm yet to get used to is getting shocked after every sessionals. Then, there are/were the labs: the ultimate experience - you gotta experience it to know it.
Yet, its been one hell of a lazy semester, getting on sluggishly, like finally falling into place in here I guess. But seems like time just flew this semester; first semester never seemed to end; and this S3 - I sorta wanted this to go on forever - is over so soon!
Of course, the end semesters remain: I know they're gonna be hell too, so just keeping my fingers crossed.

Rain dance @ NITC
Tonight was the tathva '08 cultural night (and yesterday was musical night or maybe vice versa but i don't know for sure and it doesn't matter at all because there is basically no difference between these two concepts at NITC, atleast no tangible one!).
It's been raining lately in here, seems like kind of tryin to make up for all the rain that didn't happen when it was supposed to! So it's been pouring and spoiling evrybody's moods here. Like, so much that day I of tathva, many of the stalls couldn't be put up.
So anyway, chuck that and let's come back to this cultural night I'm talking about. It was at the OAT, of course and I have already talked about it here. So enter like 90 min late, and its like pouring just the way it has been all of tathva. And everyone's seated under umbrellas; I can't come up with a good description of exactly what it was like, but basically, it was a tale of broken umbrellas and wet asses!
Since I wanted neither, we just stood there for sometime (the cultural night had been renamed rain dance @ NITC by then! ;) ), trying to appreciate the music, but sometimes it's really difficult to appreciate things you can't understand at all (I'm referring to malayalam music and us being a long way from it even after more than a year here).
So we set this deadline sort of a thing, 'we'll try just three more songs and if it doesn't get better, we're outta here'. After two songs I was only too glad to be leaving soon but out of nowhere, the third song turned out to be one of my friends' favorites and, to my utter dismay, we were staying.
However slowly the music somehow got better and we have this theory: because we don't understand most of the music and yet we can't afford to get bored there, so whatever the music is, we just dance, for our own entertainment!! So we did just that, and then there was some good music too and ultimately, there finally was a musical night I enjoyed, like truly enjoyed...
